Eric Rignot is an expert on polar ice sheets and the effects of global climate change on the cryosphere. Before joining UCI in 2007, Rignot was a senior research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he used satellites, airborne sensors, field data and computer models to understand the dynamics of glacier ice along the coasts of the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets as well as in Alaska and Patagonia. His research has documented acceleration of ice loss in these places as a result of climate change. Rignot is professor of Earth system science. Contact Rignot at 949-824-3739 or erignot@uci.edu.
