Important Housing Updates for January 22nd

Section 1

January 22, 2021

Greetings Housing Residents!

I hope winter quarter is off to a good start! Just a few important reminders this week:

  1. Sequestration: For those who returned to campus on January 16th or later, you should have received your first asymptomatic COVID-19 test, and should continue with your 7-Day Sequestration. During sequestration, students are allowed to pick up meals, receive their weekly COVID-19 test and enjoy the outdoors in a physically distanced way, but guests, indoor gatherings and traveling off campus are not allowed. Exceptions may be made for essential activities such as health appointments and work. For a graphic guide to permitted undergraduate activities, click here. For permitted graduate and family activities, click here.
  1. Regional Stay at home order: The Southern California Regional stay-at-home order is still in effect until further notice.  Please do not gather or travel until the order has been rescinded.
  1. Asymptomatic COVID-19 Testing Site Changes: The Bren Events Center Testing Site CLOSED as of January 20th.  All recurring appointments at that location were automatically cancelled, and students were sent a secure message from Student Health Center via the Patient Portal with instructions for setting up appointments at one of the other testing locations (Division of Continuing Education (DCE) – Hamilton Room OR Plaza Verde Community Center). Weekly testing is still required for all students living on-campus (excluding those with a temporary exemption from their healthcare provider).

  2. As the quarter gets busy, make time for self-care and support: Hopefully rest and relaxation during winter break prepared you for the challenges of the quarter. As your activity level ramps up, take some time to become familiar with available campus resources before you need them, and look for a couple of enjoyable wellness activities before things become stressful.  As noted in previous emails, the UCI Counseling Center and the Center for Student Wellness and Health Promotion both offer helpful resources, information, and ways to stay connected.
