Vaccine update for students
April 1, 2021
Beginning April 15, the state is making COVID-19 vaccines available to Californians ages 16 and above.
While COVID-19 vaccines are not required at UCI at this time, we strongly encourage those who are eligible to get one. Please consider seeking out a vaccine at one of the distribution sites, pharmacies or your medical provider. Below is information to help you.
- Register at the state’s MyTurn web page to record your eligibility and be notified when appointments are available near you.
- The Orange County Health Care Agency compiled this list of vaccine distribution sites. You may reach out to one of these distribution sites directly.
- The Bren Events Center on campus is a community COVID-19 vaccination site run by UCI Health. Walk-ins are not permitted and appointments are necessary through the state’s MyTurn portal, or through MyChart patient portal if you are currently a patient of UCI Health.
- ★ At this time, COVID-19 vaccines are not available at the Student Health Center (SHC) and it is unclear if or when we may be able to offer COVID-19 vaccines at SHC.
Appointments are added to the distribution sites listed above on a regular basis as vaccine doses are received. Vaccine delivery varies from week to week, so check often for newly added appointments. All three vaccines – Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson – are highly effective in preventing severe COVID-19 disease, hospitalization and death. For additional information on the COVID-19 vaccine, please see this FAQ.
Please seek all avenues for appointments as soon as you are eligible. The best vaccine is the one available to you as soon as possible. Let’s get our #SleevesUpUCI and get vaccinated, to continue to slow the spread and move closer toward reopening society and campus.
