Housing Updates for April 2

Section 1

April 2, 2021

Spring Quarter Greetings!

I hope you enjoyed spring break and are ready for spring quarter. For those who left campus, you should have (1) scheduled a COVID-19 test within 48 hours of their return to campus, a second test seven days later, and (2) started your 10-day sequester period before returning to normal activities. Those who remained on campus have no sequestering or additional testing requirement beyond regularly scheduled weekly testing.

If you have not already done so, please schedule your Spring Quarter Recurring Appointments on the Student Health Portal: https://osh.chs.uci.edu. Instructions for scheduling recurring appointments can be found here. Appointments can also be made by COVID testing site check-in staff.

Two encouraging updates for this week:

  • Orange County moved into the Orange Tier on March 31st! Check out the updated Permitted Activities Chart for undergraduate students living on-campus.  An update for graduate and family housing will be available next week.
  • Beginning April 15th, all individuals 16 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID vaccine in California. The full email announcement from Dr. Willie Banks, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and Dr. Albert Chang, Medical Director of Student Health, can be found here. The email includes instructions on how to register your eligibility and schedule an appointment at a location near you. Walk-ins are not permitted. Below are two websites that can help you locate vaccine providers in your area.

State of California ‘My Turn’ Website:  https://myturn.ca.gov/
Orange County Health Care Agency https://occovid19.ochealthinfo.com/covid-19-vaccine-resources

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) provides useful information for people who have been fully vaccinated at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html. Keep in mind, however, that campus policiestake precedence over federal guidelines.

Whether you are vaccinated or waiting for your shot(s), you are still expected to practice prevention measures.  If you have questions about COVID-related matters on campus, visit the UCI Forward Coronavirus Information Hub.

If you have questions regarding these updates or other COVID-19-related issues in Housing, email them to HousingCovidQuestion@uci.edu.

Sincerely,

Tim Trevan, Executive Director
