Grad Housing Updates for September 10

Section 1

September 10, 2021

Dear Graduate and Family Housing Residents:

Greetings to all and a warm welcome to those who have recently arrived in Irvine! Just a few reminders as you get acclimated to life on the UCI Campus for fall 2021

Important Tasks for Graduate and Family Housing Residents

1. Most graduate housing residents have uploaded their vaccine record to the Student Health Portal, but if you are one of the remaining few who still need to do that, please do so as soon as possible. If you have only received one vaccine dose or have filed for an exemption/deferral, upload that documentation to remain in compliance.

In addition to uploading your COVID-19 vaccine record or exception or deferral request to the Student Health Portal, you should also upload documentation of a prior COVID-19 diagnosis within the past 90 days. It will be evaluated by Student Health and you will be advised on whether to get tested for COVID-19 when you arrive on campus.

2. COVID-19 Baseline Testing has begun for students who have already moved into Graduate & Family Housing and continues for just two more days on Monday and Tuesday, September 13 and 14. If you have not yet done so, schedule your test on the Student Health Portal. If you are away and will arrive on campus after the 14th, please complete the absence form in Campus Groups and schedule your test within 48 hours of your return to campus.

3. SEQUESTRATION requirement for unvaccinated students on arrival to campus: Residents who are not fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (including contract holders who do not upload their vaccination record to the UCI Student Health Portal) will be required to:

(1) Test within 48 hours of arrival, and
(2) Sequester for a minimum of 7 days or until they receive 2 negative tests. During sequestration, students and dependents should leave their residences only to participate in essential activities (e.g., to pick up meals or purchase food, participate in low-risk outdoor recreational activities, or obtain health care services).
(3) Unvaccinated students must continue testing weekly and continue to wear face coverings indoors.

Finally,  please start responding to the Daily Symptom Check email or install the ‘Now-Mobile’ app on your smartphone. It is best to complete these checks first thing in the morning so that if you do have symptoms, Student Health can follow up with you early in the day. These daily checks will continue throughout the fall quarter and are required for all students regardless of vaccination status.

All COVID-19 cases should be reported to Contact Tracing and Vaccine Navigation Services at contacttracing@uci.edu or by calling (949) 824-2300. For more information on the campus response to COVID-19, visit the UCI Forward Website.

Thank you for your efforts to stay healthy and to protect the health of others in our community.

Sincerely,

Tim Trevan, Executive Director
Student Housing
