Housing Updates for September 10
September 10, 2021
It is the final week of preparations for move-in, and most of you have complied with the UC COVID-19 Vaccine Policy requirements. Thank you! To those who still need to get into compliance, now is the time to take action if you are still planning to live on-campus. Policy compliance will be required to pick up your keys and move into your housing community. If you have questions or need assistance with getting a COVID-19 vaccine near you or uploading your vaccine records or exception or deferral requests, please call Contact Tracing and Vaccine Navigation Services at (949) 824-2300 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org. The COVID-19 vaccine is also available from the Student Health Center. To make an appointment, call (949) 824-5304. If you have housing-specific questions, you may email them to HousingCovidQuestion@uci.edu.
A few other helpful reminders to ensure a smooth move-in process:
- In addition to uploading your COVID-19 vaccine record or exception or deferral request to the Student Health Portal, you should also upload documentation of a prior COVID-19 diagnosis within the past 90 days. It will be evaluated by Student Health and you will be advised on whether to get tested for COVID-19 when you arrive on campus.
- Please start responding to the Daily Symptom Check email or install the ‘Now-Mobile’ app on your smartphone. It is best to complete these checks first thing in the morning so that Student Health can follow up early in the day if you do have symptoms. These daily checks will continue throughout the fall quarter and are required for all students regardless of vaccination status.
- Be sure to read Move-in instructions provided in your housing assignments email and on the Housing Website. Print out instructions or have them ready on your phone when you arrive on Move-in Day for a smooth and efficient process.
If you think you may have been exposed to the virus in the past 14 days, you should be tested for COVID-19 within 72 hours of your assigned Move-in Day. If you test positive, please contact your housing community to reschedule your move-in time/date. This is not required, but is strongly recommended and is an extra precautionary step that you may choose to take to help keep the campus safer.
- International students who must wait to arrive in the U.S. to get vaccinated and are still waiting for their housing assignment should email HousingCovidQuestion@uci.edu and inform us of your plan to get vaccinated. We will send you resources to help you schedule your vaccination, as well as your housing assignment.
During fall quarter, all unvaccinated students will need to participate in weekly asymptomatic testing and sequester for a minimum of 7 days (with two negative COVID-19 tests) after move-in. You will receive sequestration instructions at housing check-in.
A random sampling of 25% of fully-vaccinated undergraduate students will also be asked to participate in weekly asymptomatic testing. Residents will be instructed to make a testing appointment when it’s their turn to participate. Stay tuned for more information in the next few weeks.
It is going to be exciting to see the campus come alive as students return next week, and I want to wish you all the best as you begin fall quarter!
