Anteater Welcome Reminders
September 22, 2021
Dear UCI Students,
I hope that most of you had the opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the academic year with our Convocation and Anteater Involvement Fair yesterday (along with Late Night with Campus Recreation) in the evening. As we embark on this new academic year we hope to continue to build the Anteater Family by supporting one another during this time. There will be challenges along the way; however, I am hopeful that you will be able to grow and develop as you grab hold of the many opportunities that exist to help position you for success.
I want to take a moment to encourage everyone in the Anteater Community to think about the health and safety of both themselves and of others. We are living in extraordinary times and there are immense challenges that face our society, and similarly our campus, as students return back to campus. Now, more than ever, we need to be considerate of our Anteater Family and demonstrate compassion and empathy toward one another. If we all work together, we can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 while enjoying the robust student life that we hope to shape moving forward this year.
I want to encourage all of you to bookmark the UCI Forward site that will be providing important campus updates and information.
Please be aware of the Executive Directives that exist in order to understand campus expectations and policies. Please also be aware that the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct is prepared to take action in those rare cases where students are not complying with policies or directives.
DAILY SYMPTOM CHECK REMINDER
Please remember to complete your daily symptom check every day. When your daily symptom check is submitted, you will receive a confirmation ZotPass showing your status for the day. Click the following link for more information: students.uci.edu/daily-symptom-check.html
Reports of students or student organizations who allegedly violate campus policy can be made to the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct for follow up. If the student or student organization is found responsible, they can face consequences including, but not limited to:
- suspension or dismissal for students, or
- loss of privileges and revocation of registration status for registered campus organizations.
To report an incident involving a student or student organization, submit the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct incident reporting form: uci-advocate.symplicity.com/public_report/index.php
As an Anteater Alumnus, I take immense pride in our community and I hope you will join me in holding one another accountable in practicing safety, wearing facial coverings, sanitizing and being considerate and thoughtful to one another. We are already off to a great start; let’s continue the momentum in making this an amazing year together.
