Spring Quarter Housing Updates
Section 1
March 11, 2022
Dear Residents:
Spring break is fast approaching and this email provides instructions for your return to campus following the break. This information can also be found in campus email messages sent on Thursday, March 10th.
Spring Quarter Return
- Students who leave campus for spring break, regardless of vaccination status, should test 48 hours in advance of return by antigen or PCR test.
- Students who are not up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines are required to take two PCR tests through campus testing sites, five days apart, with the first test being within 48 hours after returning to campus.
- Students who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines are recommended to test at least once by home antigen or PCR test within 48 hours after returning to campus. Beginning next week, students living in on-campus housing will be able to pick up antigen test kits in their communities to use for return to campus testing. Face masks are also available at housing community offices. Watch for additional communications about where and when to pick up test kits. COVID-19 antigen test kits are also widely available at pharmacies and for ordering from online retailers, including additional free kits which can be ordered from the federal government.
Please note the definitions below of “up to date” and “not up to date” so that you understand what is required of you:
Up to date: An individual is considered up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations when they have received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.
Not up to date: Individuals who are not up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations include: (i) individuals of all ages, including children, who have not completed a primary vaccination series to protect against COVID-19; (ii) individuals who completed their primary vaccination series less than 2 weeks ago; (iii) individuals with an approved exception or deferral to the UC Policy: SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program; (iv) individuals who have completed a primary vaccination series and are booster-eligible, but have not received a booster dose.
Students who experience COVID-related symptoms while away or upon return to campus should schedule a COVID-19 test with an outside provider or on the Student Health Patient Portal.
Thank you for your cooperation with efforts to keep the UCI community healthy! Good luck with finals!
Sincerely,
Student Housing
