March 28, 2022
Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed spring break and are ready for the quarter to begin. This is a friendly reminder about recommended and required COVID-19testing upon return to campus. This information was also shared in campus email messages sent before the break.
Spring Quarter Return: Students who leave campus for spring break, regardless of vaccination status, should test 48 hours in advance of return by antigen or PCR test.
- Students who are not up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines are required to take two PCR tests through campus testing sites, five days apart, with the first test being within 48 hours after returning to campus.
- Students who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines are recommendedto test at least once by home antigen or PCR test within 48 hours after returning to campus. If you did not pick up a home test kit before the break, check with your community housing office for availability. Undergraduate housing communities will have test kits available at the following locations:
- Arroyo Vista Housing Office
- Mesa Court Mailroom
- Middle Earth Pippin Recreation Center
*Face coverings are required at campus testing locations.
Please note the definitions below of “up to date” and “not up to date” so that you understand what is required of you:
Up to date: An individual is considered up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations when they have received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.
Not up to date: Individuals who are not up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations include: (i) individuals of all ages, including children, who have not completed a primary vaccination series to protect against COVID-19; (ii) individuals who completed their primary vaccination series less than 2 weeks ago; (iii) individuals with an approved exception or deferral to the UC Policy: SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program; (iv) individuals who have completed a primary vaccination series and are booster-eligible, but have not received a booster dose.
Students who experience COVID-related symptoms upon return to campus should schedule a COVID-19 test on the Student Health Patient Portal.
Thank you for your cooperation with efforts to keep the UCI community healthy! Best wishes for a great start to the new quarter!
