Watch Dr. Fauci’s commencement speech to BioSci graduates

“We need your talent, your energy, your resolve and your character to get through this difficult time,” Dr. Anthony Fauci told UCI biological sciences students during a two-minute virtual commencement address delivered from Maryland.


Surveys gauge student reactions to remote learning

UCI students offered mixed reviews on remote learning in a pair of School of Social Ecology surveys conducted in April and May.

New visitor policy at UCI Health

Starting Sunday, UCI Health will begin temperature screenings for all patients and visitors at its walk-in sites and will provide colored stickers to indicate people have been screened. The stickers will match the badge bands that all UCI Health workers receive during the staff health screening process. The goal is to ensure that visitors and staff feel confident that everyone is healthy.

Caution urged for reopening schools

An analysis in the Journal of Pediatrics, co-written by a UCI pediatrician, outlines a series of recommendations to reopen K-12 schools safely.

GPS for UCI Medical Center

To help patients and visitors find their way around UCI Medical Center, UCI Health plans to launch a new mobile direction system next week. Integrated into the My UCI Health app, the wayfinding tool provides step-by-step navigation at UCIMC along with such popular features as Parking Planner, Find My Car and Meet Me.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said business as usual in the U.S. wouldn’t return for another year or so, as social distancing and other efforts continue through the fall and winter.

Passengers brought COVID-19 to LAX in March and nobody was warned

In early March, a passenger who flew on American Airlines from JFK to LAX was infected with the coronavirus and rushed to the hospital a day after landing in Los Angeles. Passengers and crew on the flight were not informed by public health officials and the airline only recently learned of the case.
