Dark matter mission
Yu-Dai Tsai, a UCI particle physics and cosmology researcher, has been eyeing a region between Mercury and the sun as a potential hotspot for dark matter detection. In a paper appearing in Nature Astronomy, Tsai and his collaborators posit that the positioning of atomic clocks on a spacecraft in the inner reaches of the solar system could help find and measure dark matter particles that have eluded researchers over decades of experiments and attempts at observation. They’ve dubbed the proposed mission SpaceQ, short for Space Quantum.
