Severe Weather Alert

Section 1

Aug. 18, 2023

Last updated on Aug. 18, 2023 at 4:04 p.m.

This weekend and into Monday, severe weather is anticipated to impact Southern California due to Hurricane Hilary. This storm may bring heavy rain, wind, flooding and other hazards to our region.

You are encouraged to take extra caution while traveling. In line with the Work Reimagined initiative, employees and supervisors may make alternative arrangements for work location and scheduling.

Facilities Management staff will be on campus monitoring the situation throughout the weather event. If on campus, please be on the lookout for and avoid any areas of flooding or other hazards and report any storm-related issues such as flooding, downed trees, branches or power lines to the Facilities Management Service Desk at (949) 824-5444 or the UCI Police department at (949) 824-5223.

Currently, the campus is maintaining normal operations. If there is any change to campus operations or access, additional email communication and/or zotALERTs may be issued, and www.uci.edu/status will have time-stamped updates. Should there be significant and ongoing campus operational impacts, updates will be posted to www.emergency.uci.edu.

Additional information regarding current and forecasted severe weather for the region can be found at the National Weather Service webpage at https://www.weather.gov/.
