UAW Strike Activity at the University of California

UCI is currently experiencing strike activity by the United Auto Workers (UAW), which includes Academic Student Employees, Graduate Student Researchers, Postdoctoral Scholars, and Academic Researchers.

Operational Status

During this time, the UCI campus will continue to maintain regular operations. Faculty and instructors will be in direct communication with students regarding any adjustments to instruction. Students should plan on attending their classes and completing any scheduled assignments or exams.

About the UAW Labor Action

It is important to note that the current labor negotiations are conducted by the University of California, not by local campuses or health systems. The University of California is committed to continuing to negotiate in good faith and to reaching complete agreements as soon as possible. UC’s Office of the President has provided a fact sheet on the UC-UAW negotiations online at https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/UAW.

Academic Student Employees, Graduate Student Researchers, Postdoctoral Scholars, and Academic Researchers are valuable members of the UCI community. We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as the University continues to advance our critical teaching and research missions during this challenging time.
