Campus Instruction Update 10/26/20

Section 1

Oct. 26, 2020

Dear Instructors and ASEs,

We are following up on the campus closure today due to the current fires in Orange County. All in-person classes scheduled today are cancelled, but remote classes will continue as possible. Anyone teaching today, whether a class, lab, or discussion section, should communicate directly with their students to confirm this and provide any follow up specific to the course. Remote courses will proceed as planned unless the fire impact is such that the instructor needs to cancel/postpone activities. Please be aware that students are likely to be impacted by the fire and provide appropriate accommodations at this time. Please communicate directly with students if there is an impact on a remote course due to the fire. If students missing class for natural disasters are already planned for within existing course policies, it would be useful to remind students of your course policies. If it is not already planned for, please alert your students that they will be excused should the wildfire prevent them attending. Students in need of support due to the wildfire are being encouraged to contact the UCI Counseling Center at (949) 824-6457. If students reach out to you and need help, please encourage them to contact the Counseling Center.
