Where will Langson IMCA be located?

UCI’s new, purpose-built facility will be located on the northern edge of university property along Campus Drive and near the new UCI Medical Center – Irvine. Serving as a gateway to the community and via its neighboring adjacency, the museum building will be designed to draw connections to art, nature, health and wellness.

Until construction is completed, Langson IMCA will continue to present rotating exhibitions and public programs at its interim space at 18881 Von Karman Ave., in Irvine, and at various pop-up sites on campus and throughout the city.

How will Langson IMCA contribute to the community?

As home to the only institute and museum dedicated to the study, presentation and preservation of California art, Langson IMCA brings renowned artists, art scholars, and other multidisciplinary researchers to Irvine and Orange County. Its mission is to be locally engaged as a bridge between the campus and the region, as well as globally relevant through exhibitions, programs and initiatives that illuminate the Golden State’s influence and innovation through art.

These programs enrich the educational experience for students, faculty, staff, alumni and scholars from UCI and peer institutions across the globe. Langson IMCA welcomes first time visitors as well as art aficionados including K-12 students, families and residents from Orange County and beyond to make new discoveries and enjoy viewing original works of art. Together with UCI Medical Center – Irvine, it fulfills the mission of North Campus to innovatively connect art, science and nature.

How will Langson IMCA impact the environment?

UCI is among the nation’s leading universities for its commitment to the environment and sustainability. Campus leaders continue to work with biologists and ecologists to conserve and protect the San Joaquin Marsh Reserve through thoughtful and sustainable planning, and the university will take the same approach with the Langson IMCA building.
