UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art
A cultural anchor in a national arts hub
A New Era for Art in Orange County
In September 2025, UC Irvine completed its acquisition of the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA), marking a bold new chapter for the arts in our region.
This exciting new chapter combines OCMA’s vibrant contemporary programming and Costa Mesa facility with UC Irvine’s academic depth, California art collections, and public mission—uniting two leading institutions around a shared vision for public engagement, scholarship, and creative excellence.
The unified institution is now named the UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art. The name celebrates the legacy of curatorial excellence and educational leadership at both institutions while advancing a vision for public access, creative scholarship, and cultural impact across Orange County and beyond. It also honors the generosity of Jack and Shanaz Langson, whose support has elevated the arts at UC Irvine.
Appointed in December 2025, Kathryn Kanjo serves as museum director. As part of this new chapter, the Irvine interim location has closed, and museum operations are now fully centered in Costa Mesa at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus. Admission continues to be free.
