Campus status
Two advisories have been issued for Orange County: a high wind advisory for Saturday, Oct. 3, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and a high heat advisory from today, Friday, Oct. 2, through Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026.
High Winds
Please be mindful of your surroundings when on campus including the possibility of falling trees and branches, as well as wind-blown debris.

Cooling Centers
Cooling centers on campus will be open as noted below:
- Student Center: 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily
- Anteater Recreation Center: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
- Bren Events Center: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Continuing Education (Lower Lobby #1000 and Main Lobby #2000): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Camino del Sol Community Center (“The Lodge”): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
- Campus Village Community Center: 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. (10/2); 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. (10/3 & 10/4); 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. (10/5-10/7)
- Plaza Verde Community Center: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
- Palo Verde Community Center (Residents Only): 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. (10/2); closed (10/3 & 10/4); 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. (10/5); 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (10/6); 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. (10/7)
- Vista del Campo Community Center: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
- Vista del Campo Norte Community Center (“The Clubhouse”): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
- Verano Place Community Center: 10 to 12 a.m. (10/2-10/4); 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. (10/5-10/7)
Cooling centers hosted by the City of Irvine have also been activated. Please visit the city’s cooling center website and Orange County's website for locations and hours. Transportation is not included.
Medical Resources
The Student Health Center is prepared to screen and provide clinical support for students who show signs of heat exhaustion/heat stroke. Students experiencing heat symptoms may:
- Contact the Student Health Center or a primary care provider (non-SHIP) for evaluation at 949-824-5301
- Call the 24-hour Nurse Advice Line to discuss symptoms at 1-866-440-2752 (For SHIP students with Wellfleet insurance only)
- Contact a telehealth provider (LiveHealth Online for SHIP) for a virtual appointment
- Consult UCI’s Emergency services and after-hours care website
- Call or text 9-1-1 for any life-threatening medical emergency
Employees experiencing heat symptoms while working on the job should notify their supervisor and contact Workers’ Compensation. If treatment is needed, go to any of the clinics listed on the Workers’ Compensation page.
